Juice Cleanse Diet – Extremely Fast Weight Loss

The Juice Cleanse Diet that made Joe Cross a celebrity in the weight-loss world.  As his documentary proclaims, he was 100 pounds overweight and Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead.  Cross lost 100 pounds in 60 days on a juice cleanse diet!  Before you go and load up your grocery cart with fruits and vegetables, then head to the appliance aisle for a juicer, there are some things to know about a juice cleanse diet.  Even Joe himself advises seeing a physician before starting a juice cleanse for weight loss.

Many nutritionists and diet experts warn against a long lasting juice cleanse for long-term weight loss success.  Proponents of juice cleanses for weight loss prescribe plans for 30-60 day cleanses, but they also advise cutting your exercise down to 3-4 times a week of low impact exercise, such as walking around the block.  This is because you are taking in fewer calories and you don’t want your body to think its starving.  When the body thinks it’s starving, it goes into self-preservation mode and the metabolism slows way down.  If a cleanse was not done properly and your metabolism has slowed down, it can be years before your metabolism speeds back up.  In the meantime, weight loss becomes nearly impossible, while weight gain seems to happen overnight.

A juice cleanse, however, can be an excellent way to jump-start your diet, or just reset your taste for fresh fruits and vegetables.  Initial weight loss with a juice cleanse is rapid, so a three day cleanse can springboard you into a lower calorie, healthy eating plan that will keep you on the road to health even as your weight loss slows down.

Dr. Oz invited Joe Cross to be on his show and to share a three day juice cleanse diet Cross created.  In the days leading up to the cleanse, Cross recommends flushing the toxins out of your system by drinking a cup of hot water with lemon and ginger every morning and ending the day with a cup of herbal tea before bed.  You should also cut out all processed foods, sugar, caffeine, red meat, and dairy.  You should be eating mainly lean protein, and fruits and vegetables.

For the actual three days of the cleanse, you will drink five juices each day and eat one evening meal consisting only of fruits and vegetables.  Cross says the meal is an essential part of the diet because the fiber in the fruit and vegetables fill you up and keep you from feeling deprived.  The five times a day for juices are breakfast, midmorning snack, lunch, midafternoon snack, and a pre-dinner juice.  Cross has certain juice recipes he recommends for the three-day cleanse, but there is an endless supply of juicing recipes on the Internet.

There are several important things to remember when juicing.  One is that fruits, especially, and some vegetables still have calories.  Keep track of the calories you are consuming to maximize your weight loss.  Don’t stop exercising either.  Exercise will minimize the amount of weight that is lost from muscle rather than from fat.  Consider adding in some lean protein and a small amount of fat each day to keep your body from thinking it has gone into starvation mode.  Keeping these things in mind, juicing can be a great way to repair and re-energize your body.
